10/11/2025    Mount Tamalpais State Park

Guided Hike: I Love You, Tamalpais!

Starts at Pantoll at 9am

Join State Park Interpreter Hillary on a moderate hike that, in a relatively short distance, takes in a variety of Mt Tam's ecosystems as well as many of the natural beauties that fill the park. The hike name is inspired by lyrics from California's State Song "I Love You, California" and the route this hike follows displays many things to love in our state (as well as quite a few state symbols).

Meeting location: Pantoll Parking Lot

Hike description: Moderate loop hike of about 3.2 miles that loses and regains about 600 feet elevation total. The hike begins with a slightly steep downhill on the Alpine and Bootjack Trails to Van Wyck Meadow. It then follows the gentle ups and downs of the TCC Trail. A short, somewhat steep climb up the Dipsea Trail to Cardiac Hill opens up the vista for ocean views, weather permitting, before we take the easy, underrated Old Mine Trail back to Pantoll. Estimated duration is about 2.75 hours, including break time and photo time.

Additional information: Weather conditions may be variable and trails surfaces are uneven. Dress in layers and wear suitable footwear. Bring water and snacks. Poison oak and ticks may be present along the trails. Pets other than service animals are not allowed on these trails.
