9/14/2025    Mount Tamalpais State Park

Biodiversi-tea Café and BioBlitz

from 8am to 1pm at Pantoll Campground, next to the restrooms

Join our Biodiversi-tea Café and learn how to share observations to the free iNaturalist and eBird apps while sipping coffee, tea, or hot chocolate (provided by the Friends of Mt Tam)! With our extended hours, we can chat before and/or after you explore Mt Tam and help you with app downloads, joining iNaturalist events (our BioBlitz and the 30 Species project), observation tips, uploading observations/lists, and identifications. You can choose your own hike or join a short guided hike at 9am or 11am.

Given limited connectivity on some parts of the mountain, downloading apps before coming to the park is recommended. Parking in the Pantoll lot is $8 per vehicle (valid California State Park annual and Library passes accepted). Parking in Pantoll and other parking lots in Mount Tamalpais State Park may fill up early that day due to the pancake breakfast fundraiser at West Point Inn (2 miles hike up Old Stage Road from Pantoll). Those wishing to join the 9am or 11am guided hikes are encouraged to arrive well before the hike start time. Those wishing to attend the pancake breakfast are encouraged to make observation for iNaturalist and/or eBird on their way to and from (and while waiting at) West Point Inn. Those wishing for an easier parking situation might consider making Pantoll and the Café the midpoint of their hike and starting at Rock Spring, White Gate, Stinson Beach, or Santos Meadow/Frank Valley Horse Camp (no parking fees at these locations).

Even if you can't join the Café time, you can still participate in our BioBlitz event or the statewide "Find 30 Species Challenge" from September 6th through September 14th.
