Bowtie Community Welcome Day

Name of event: Bowtie Community Welcome Day

Date of event: Saturday, March 7, 2026

Time of event: 1:00PM to 4:00PM

Location of event: Bowtie Wetlands (2780 W Casitas Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90039)

Description of event: State Parks, The Nature Conservancy, and Clockshop come together to welcome the community at the Bowtie Parcel – the latest State Park property in development along the LA River. The purpose of the event is to celebrate the Bowtie Project and its near-completion, which will expand green and restorative spaces along the LA River.

The Bowtie Wetland Demonstration is a multi-benefit climate resilience stormwater management and habitat enhancement demonstration project along the Los Angeles River in Cypress Park, Los Angeles. The project is expected to open to the public in 2027. We hope you can join us there for a preview on Saturday, March 7th, from 1 to 4 PM!

More About the Site

The Bowtie Wetland Demonstration will transform a former railyard along the L.A. River into a green open space filled with native plants. This has many benefits, including improving water quality, reducing urban heat, increasing resilience to drought, improving public access to nature and the L.A. River and supporting native species.

While construction will not yet be fully complete, the event will showcase the final stages of implementation, celebrate the creation of a new climate resilient State Park, and engage the community through site tours, native plant workshops, exhibits, and additional family-friendly activities. Spanish interpretation will be available.
