Description: For Parks Week 2025, this year’s cohort of Community Engagement Fellows will present a community gathering as the culminating project of their eight-month volunteer service with State Parks. Formerly known as Promotorx, the Fellows work directly with State Park staff and partners to assist with programs, events, and operations, and promote park programs and support community engagement. After shadowing park staff and enjoying training and enrichment activities, the Fellows have the opportunity to envision and execute their own final program, a highlight of their service period. Last year’s Fellows created Brunch in the Park, a free celebration of local food and culture that included free yoga and Tai chair classes, artmaking, musical performances, food demos and more. We’ll work closely with the new cohort to develop and shape their ideas for a similar community gathering for June 2025; preliminary staff ideas include a volunteer resources fair or family picnic.
