Pass Renewal & Extension Information
The Park Pass Office mailed replacement Disabled Discount and Distinguished Veteran passes in December 2024 to passholders who had received an extension on their renewal requirement. This extension was applicable to passes issued between 2017 and 2022 (Pass Renewal & Extension Information).
If you were part of this group and your pass did not arrive or you need to update your address, please contact us through Park Pass Questions. Include your name, new and old address, as well as the name of the pass you have so that we can match the records. If you cannot email us, you may call the Parks Pass Office at 1-800-777-0369 x2 and leave a message with this information.
You can continue using your existing pass until the replacement arrives.
Status:
- We have not begun mailing passes to new addresses.
- We are compiling the 1,500 address updates that we have already received, as well as new ones
- Our goal is to have everyone's accounts updated with the new addresses and begin mailing the replacement passes in April 2025.
Disabled Discount and Distinguished Veteran Passholders
All Disabled Discount or Distinguished Veteran passes with a five-year validity period have been extended for an additional five years and do not require renewal at this time. There is no action necessary.
The California State Parks staff are aware of the expiration date extension and you may continue to use your existing pass.
The Reserve California camping reservation system has been updated to reflect the pass expiration extension. To receive your benefits, you must make your reservation from the account linked to your pass (verifiable within your account profile). If you experience any issues with receiving your benefits, please email your purchase information to passinfo@parks.ca.gov for assistance.
Although these are lifetime passes, the California State Parks has renewal requirements to ensure the integrity of the pass program. Future renewal requirements will be shared prior to the next renewal date. The updated schedule is below:

Why does my pass say it is expired in Reserve California?
When logging into Reserve California, pass holders may see that their pass indicates that it is ‘expired’ on the ‘Your Passes’ page. This is the record of your original transaction and does not indicate the current status of your discount.
Pass holders can verify that they are receiving their discount by looking at their profile details and verifying that the customer classification still reflects ‘Distinguished Veteran’ or ‘Disabled Discount’– so long as the customer classification reflects ‘Distinguished Veteran’ or ‘Disabled Discount’, the appropriate discount will still be applied.
If you believe that your pass should have been part of the pass extension but the classification is reflecting ‘Regular’, please contact the pass office.
