Environmental Learning Programs
Environmental Living Programs (ELP)
These school group programs are "living" overnight experiences for students. Students are immersed in the past for a brief time and learn from their own experience about earlier cultures and lifestyles. ELPs are coordinated with concepts taught in the classroom. Good pre-trip preparations are essential for the success of the student experience during the program. Students role play in period-appropriate attire, sometimes representing specific historic personas, and recreate the culture of the era they have studied. They relate the past to the present with the roles they are portraying, participating in activities, food, and chores appropriate to the park's period.
