The California Department of Parks and Recreation oversees the nature and extent of archaeological fieldwork carried out on State Parks Land. The purpose of the DPR-412A form is to chronicle archaeological investigative work and its research context. The department wants to encourage viable research projects; however, potential investigators must complete the approval process and possess an authorized DPR-412A before any work begins.
