16 years or older? Become a State Lifeguard

Spring Session

Spring Session: Monday, March 2nd, 2020 through Thursday, March 26th, 2020

4:30 - 6:30 PM

Our Spring After School Session offers more advanced skills than the typical summer session. Spring session will be held at the Granite Bay Activity Center at the main Granite Bay entrance to the lake on Douglas Blvd. The program will run Monday through Friday from 4:30 - 6:30 PM from March 2nd through March 26th. We will be providing wetsuits for this session due to weather conditions. The spring session offers a lifeguard showcase to learn about the various duties State Parks Lifeguards get to do, as well as advanced skills in radio communication and medical response. Furthermore, interview skills and resume writing workshops will be included in the session followed by mock interviews to help JGs prepare for Assistant tryouts or State Parks Lifeguard tryouts.

Registration for the Spring session is open now! Register at ReserveCalifornia.com

Spring Session Calendar!

Spring Session 2020

Spring Session Parent Meeting

Fall/Spring/Summer sessions are each unique. Parents should attend the parent meeting corresponding to each session their child is participating in. Parent meetings are a great place to learn about what to expect in the session and ask any applicable questions. Parents only need to attend 1 parent meeting. Second session parents can attend either parent meeting. We highly encourage attending the parent meeting even if you have previously participated in the program as things change from year to year.  The parent meeting is held in the Granite Bay Activity Center at the Folsom Lake park enterance located at the end of Douglas Blvd. There is no physical address for this location.

Spring Session Special Events

Dive Days

Spring Session Dive Days will be held at Negro Bar State Beach on Tuesday, March 17th and Wednesday, March 18th from 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM

JGs will learn about diving near rock formations, equalizing, and learn about hazardous unguarded beach locations.

Wetsuits will be provided.

Interview/Resume Workshops

Interview and Resume workshops to prepare JGs for assistant tryouts will be on Friday, March 20th and Monday, March 23rd.

JGs will learn about what information they should be prepared to share about themselves in the interview and have a hands on opportunity to create their own resume and practice interview skills.

We encourage JGs to bring electronic devices (laptops, tablets, etc) so that they may begin typing their resume during the workshop time. Paper templates will be available for those unable to bring devices.

Mock Interviews

Mock Interviews will be held at the end of the session on Wednesday, March 25th, as a chance for JGs to apply the skills they've learned throughout the session. Mock Interviews are a great opportunity for JGs to prepare for their assistant interviews.

Spring Classic

The spring classic is the spring session version of an 'Iron Guard'. It is a rigorous physical event that showcases all of the hard work JGs have put in throughout the session. Parents are encouraged to come spectate the event and cheer on their child. The Spring Classic will take place on Thursday, March 26th at 4:30 PM. It is a regular session day ending at  6:30 PM.
