A current letter from the Department of Veteran Affairs stating the veteran’s overall/combined rating and service connection, dated within 1 year of application is one of the documents required when applying for this pass (Please see application for complete list of required documents). A Summary of Benefits Letter (pictured) provides the service dates, discharge status and overall/combined rating.

You may contact the VA directly at (800) 827-1000, voice prompt “Letters” and have a Summary of Benefits Letter faxed or mailed to you. Alternatively, you may also use the resources below to print this letter directly from the websites.

eBenefits is a resource offered through the VA, where Veterans can access and manage their health and benefit records. From here, you can print many different VA letters to verify eligibility for a variety of benefits, including the Summary of Benefits Letter that can be used to qualify for the Distinguished Veteran Pass. In order to access this resource you will need a DS Login, or you can register though the eBenefits website.
