Department of Parks and Recreation Acquisition Program

The State Park System Plan recommends an approach to acquisition planning different than previously used by the Department.  This new approach emphasizes establishing statewide objectives in categories consistent with the Department's mission in the areas of Natural Resources, Cultural Resources, and Recreation and Trails.  Implementation of this program has begun using remaining funds from Proposition 12 and Proposition 40.  These eight categories are:

1. Urban Parklands
2. Unique Natural Resource Areas
3. Sustainable Ecosystems
4. Expanded Outdoor Recreation
5. Cultural Landscapes and Corridors
6. Significant Cultural Resource Properties
7. Trail Connections and Corridors
8. In-holdings and Adjacent Properties
