Discover more about Mount Tamalpais State Park! For the month of January, we're going to be exploring geology.
Stop by on your way to or back from your outdoor adventure and learn about nature in the park. Topics will change monthly and locations will rotate weekly. Park staff will be there to answer questions and offer recommendations on where to explore further. Tables will have specimens and activities and there will be a reading corner for those with the time and wish to explore in a quieter, more relaxed style.
For the geology table, there will be rock specimens, hand-held microscopes, geology scavenger hunt sheets, and geology books & guides.
December-January planned locations:
1/4: Rock Spring parking lot (Cataract Trail trailhead at the intersection of Pantoll Road and Ridgecrest Boulevard)
1/4: Rock Spring parking lot (Cataract Trail trailhead at the intersection of Pantoll Road and Ridgecrest Boulevard)
1/11: Pantoll parking lot, near the restrooms (check out the table before the 9:30 hike that will pass many geologically interesting spots!)
1/18: East Peak, near the watershed model
1:25: Bootjack picnic area
