Christmas in the Adobes Info & Tickets

35th Annual CHRISTMAS IN THE ADOBES - 2018

 Friday & Saturday, December 7 & 8

5 p.m. - 9 p.m.

Stroll the streets of Historic Downtown Monterey and visit 19th-Century Mexican Era adobes decorated for the holidays. Enjoy fandango dance lessons at Custom  House, treats at Fisherman's Wharf or bagpipes and shortbread cookies at Robert Louis Stevenson House, to name a few. Many other adobes offer entertainments, refreshments, games, history and loads of fun. It's a holiday event for the entire family!

Twenty-three historic sites throughout the downtown area are within walking distance. Volunteers at several sites offer information about the history of their building. Some adobes offer interactive fun. We recommend you dress for weather and bring a flashlight!

Each year many event goers stay the weekend at a downtown hotel and attend both nights by purchasing a two-night pass so they can see every venue.

Pre Event Ticket sales – Tickets may be purchased at Custom House Gift Shop (#1 Custom House Plaza, across from entrance to Fisherman’s Wharf) open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day.

Online sales are at www.mshpa.org beginning Oct 13 until Midnight, Tuesday December 4

Purchasing on Event Nights – Tickets can be purchased on event nights at Pacific House Museum (west side of Custom House Plaza, across from the ice rink) Casa Gutierrez garden (Pacific Street side) or Custom House Gift Shop (across from entrance to Fisherman’s Wharf.)

Please note: Royal Presidio Chapel/San Carlos Cathedral will open at 7:00 p.m. both nights. This change was made after programs were printed showing them open at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Event Program – Event goers will receive a program with a map showing the participating adobes either when they purchase tickets on site or, if purchased on-line, at Will Call when tickets are picked up.

Accessibility: This is a nighttime event that includes walking and visiting building with several steps. Nineteenth Century adobes were not built for ADA compliance, though many buildings have been modernized with accessibility in mind. Those are indicated in your program along with descriptions of each adobe that you receive when you purchase tickets.

Safety –We strongly recommend that you bring a flashlight, watch the weather forecasts and dress appropriately. Be aware crossing busy intersections and keep children nearby. Event Monitors will be positioned along the route and at buildings to help you find your way to the next adobe or venue.

It’s For Kids, Too! Children's ticket prices are only $2 to encourage their attendance, and besides, this is a charitable fund raiser that supports school history field trips to Monterey State Historic Park, so it just wouldn't be right to charge them a lot! May the joys of the season be with you and your family.
