Welcome to the State of California
Gold Discovery Day Commemoration
Park: Marshall Gold Discovery SHP

Description
The Park annually recognizes James Marshall’s January 24th, 1848 Gold Discovery with a special weekend event reenacting the Gold Discovery, and featuring guest speakers and authors who are experts in the California Gold Rush.  Events include pioneer demonstrations, tours of the park’s historic buildings, and Gold Rush music through out the day. This year's theme will focus on Marshall's life.  Three of our trained docents will portray James Marshall; one as a young man on the day he discovered gold, a second as Mr. Marshall six years later, at his mill which was about to be dismanteled, and a third at his cabin the year before he died. Come and learn about the changes the California Gold Discovery made to our state.
