Truckee, Calif.—Donner Memorial State Park is seeking volunteers to assist with daily operations of the new Visitors Center, set to open its doors in late spring.

Volunteer training programs will begin on Friday April 17, 2015. At the training sessions, prospective volunteers will have the opportunity to meet with Parks staff, and learn about the various volunteer positions currently available. They will also be able to sign-up for opportunities, and receive training in the Visitors Center operations, as well as the park’s background and regional history. No previous experience is required.

Donner Memorial State Park is known for its Century-old Pioneer Memorial, and the locations of some of the Donner Party campsites. In addition to interactive exhibits and modern audio-visual offerings, the new Visitors Center will also feature special events.

Completed volunteer applications must be delivered to the Park no later than Saturday April 11, 2015. Interested volunteers can request an application at the park, or by calling 530-582-7892. The application can also be downloaded using this link: http://www.parks.ca.gov/pages/735/files/DPR%20208H.PDF.
