Anderson Marsh Interpretive Association
Annual Meeting & Celebration

Anderson Marsh State Historic Park
Saturday, May 31, 2014
9 am to 1:30 pm

Join the Celebration of AMIA’s 30th Birthday
the 150th Anniversary of California’s State Parks

We’ve got some fun planned at the Park to celebrate these two milestones, with an appearance of a special guest to talk about the early days of the California State Parks.
Beginning at 9am, the day will start with a Guided Nature Walk along the Cache Creek Nature Trail and Boardwalk.  This will be an easy morning stroll appropriate for everyone.  Lots of wonderful things to see on this walk from the Ranch House to Cache Creek and back.
From 10:30 am to 11:30 am, the historic Ranch House will be open, with AMIA Board members in each room to answer questions about the house and its contents.  Adding to the fun of the open house will be music played outside on the porch, with old time fiddlers and a few surprises.
The event will also feature displays about the history of the California State Parks and information about the work of Anderson Marsh Interpretive Association.
At 11:30 am, we will welcome a very special guest.   Galen Clark, who was appointed in 1864 as what was then Yosemite State Park’s first “Guardian,” will be portrayed by retired State Park Ranger  Miles Standish.  Ranger Standish does a very entertaining and informative portrayal of California’s first “Park Ranger,” and we will hear Galen Clark talk about the beginning of the California State Park system and the significance of 150 years of California State Parks.
After we hear from Galen Clark, we have a great program planned, including Roberta Lyons, AMIA’s President, speaking about AMIA and her recollections of AMIA’s past since the beginning of the Park, and Gordon Haggitt, AMIA Board Member (a descendant of the Andersons who first settled at Anderson Ranch), reminiscing about his time in the Ranch House as a young boy visiting his Anderson family relatives.
It will then be time for everyone to enjoy some birthday cake, enjoy some more music and have a good time with your fellow Park supporters.

Please join us as we commemorate AMIA’s 3oth Anniversary and the 150th Anniversary of the California State Parks.
There is no charge to attend this Celebration at Anderson Marsh State Historic Park.
