Mono Basin Bird Chautauqua – Not your ordinary bird festival
The Twelfth Annual Mono Basin Bird Chautauqua is set to take place June 14-16, 2013 and internet registration opens on April 15th at 6:30 a.m. Based out of Lee Vining, CA this celebrated event is among the best of the nature festivals blending science, art, music, and great food into one 3-day event. The event’s official slogan, “not your ordinary bird festival,” is for good reason. Subjects offered this year include birds, bugs, butterflies, plants and flowers, mammals, geology, art, photography, writing, nature awareness, kids events, storytelling, and more.
Approximately 80 field trips, workshops, and auditorium presentations will be offered by 50 knowledgeable and experienced instructors from California and the West. Join author Jon Young, author of What the Robin Knows, poet Tom Crawford, and naturalist-artist John Muir Laws and many more.
As always the event will end on Sunday with a picnic and concert at Mono Lake County Park.
The Bird Chautauqua is organized by the Mono Lake Committee and California State Parks. Other partners include: The U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, Yosemite Conservancy, Eastern Sierra Interpretive Association, Eastern Sierra Audubon, Friends of the Inyo, and PRBO Conservation Science.
