Saddleback Camping Club Campout
Park:
Saddleback Butte SP
Camp alongside local friendly, active outdoor people and celebrate the passing of Comet Pan-STARRS! The newly formed Saddleback Camping Club will have its second campout on March 23 at Saddleback Butte State Park, in conjunction with the telescope viewing of celestial objects with the Antelope Valley Astronomy Club. Get away from the city to enjoy a quiet evening and dark skies full of stars, only 20 minutes from Lancaster and Palmdale!
Saddleback Butte State Park is the only park in the Antelope Valley where hiking, tent and RV camping, and equestrian trails are all available in one place. The Saddleback Camping Club will host fun campouts monthly in spring and fall, with different activities offered at each event. Just show up, and you’re in the club! There is no membership fee, but regular camping fees apply of $20 per night, $18 with seniors 62 years old and up, or $10 with a California State Parks Disabled Discount Pass (additional park pass information can be found at www.parks.ca.gov). Campsites are first-come, first-served.
Come and enjoy an evening of dark skies and celestial splendor! Campground check-in begins at 2 p.m. and telescope viewing will begin at 7 p.m. The park visitor center will also be open for exploring in the afternoon. The Saddleback Butte State Park campground is at the corner of 170th Street East and East Avenue K, just north of Lake Los Angeles. More information about the park can be found at www.parks.ca.gov, www.SaveSaddleback.org, and www.facebook.com/SaddlebackButte or call (661) 946-6900.
