Paint a Whale Bone!

Park: MacKerricher SP

Time: 1-3:00 p.m.

Paint a Whale Bone!  *NOTE - rain or fog will cancel*
Meet at the visitor’s center to protect life size whale skeletons!  You can help preserve MacKerricher's famous exhibit by wearing your painting clothes and bringing a paint brush.

MacKerricher State Park,
located three miles north of Fort Bragg on Highway 1, is an ideal location for watching migrating whales.  A wheelchair accessible boardwalk allows access to the headlands of Laguna Point along the whale route.

Docents will present public whale walks and provide binoculars and a spotting scope to help visitors study whales and other fascinating marine and bird wildlife.

A rare, reconstructed Gray Whale Skeleton is on permanent display near the visitor center and entry kiosk. The skeleton is a composite of two whales that beached on the Mendocino Coast, two years apart. Humpback Whale bones are also on display giving a visual size perspective between the grays and humpbacks.

This is a ‘must see’ popular & free event.  For additional information call (707)961-0471.
