Where: Meet at the entrance to Font's Point Wash
When: 5:30 a.m. (3 hours)
Join State Park Volunteer Naturalist Terry Hunefeld for a slow 3-4 hour nature & geology amble along the Font's Point escarpment to watch the sun rise over the Borrego Badlands. We'll explore geological processes, climate changes and desert life adaptations as we look down into a million years of history. This is a moderate 3-4 mile walk depending on weather, much of it cross-country (no trail) through cactus, over steep, rolling terrain. We'll make lots of stops to enjoy the views and talk about what we're seeing. Pre-registration, water, hiking shoes & hats are mandatory (no exceptions). 4WD mandatory (Terry has room for 4 passengers, first come, first served). Meet Terry at 5:30 a.m. at the entrance to Font's Point Wash (mile marker 29.3 on Hwy S-22). Limited to 10 participants who must have pre-registered at the Visitor Center.
