All aboard as Railtown 1897 State Historic Park (SHP) offers its popular excursion train rides all three days of the Labor Day holiday weekend! On Saturday and Sunday, guests can ride behind the famous Sierra No. 3 also known as the “Movie Star Locomotive.” Then on Labor Day Monday, guests can enjoy a ride behind a vintage along the rails of the famous “Movie Railroad” through California’s scenic Gold Country! As another special treat, singer/banjoist James Nelson of the Black Irish Band will entertain guests all three days while performing live on the platform under the tulip tree. Visitors to Railtown 1897 SHP are encouraged to bring picnic items to enjoy under the sprawling oak trees. All train ride tickets include Park admission and are now available online in advance as well as at the ticket window beginning at 10 a.m. on the day of the ride (based on availability).
