Donner Memorial State Park Seeking Interested Volunteers

Volunteer training programs will begin on Friday April 17, 2015. At the training sessions, prospective volunteers will have the opportunity to meet with Parks staff, and learn about the various volunteer positions currently available. They will also be able to sign-up for opportunities, and receive training in the Visitors Center operations, as well as the park’s background and regional history. No previous experience is required.


California State Parks’ Transformation Team Releases Action Plan, Launches New Website

The California State Parks’ Transformation Team today launched a public website and released their first Transformation Action Plan, which outlines Strategic Goals as well as thirty different priority initiatives for State Parks. The Transformation Action Plan closely follows the Parks Forward final report’s four basic themes, such as making fundamental changes to the Department, enhancing partnerships, expanding park access, and garnering stable and diversified funding.

California State Parks is announcing the establishment of the Transformation Team, which is composed of experienced parks staff and outside consultants, and is tasked with developing and leading State Parks in executing structural and sustainable reforms, as well as implementing many of the initiatives to be outlined in the upcoming Parks Forward final report.
