ARNOLD, Calif.— California State Parks in cooperation with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) will be continuing to conduct prescribed burns in Calaveras Big Trees State Park on November 1, 2022. This is the third of a series of prescription burns planned for the park this fall.

ARNOLD, Calif.— California State Parks is holding a town hall meeting April 7 at 6 p.m. at Calaveras Big Trees State Park to discuss forest management in the park.

California State Parks in cooperation with the California Department of Forestry and Fire protection (CAL FIRE) plan to conduct a prescribed burn Thursday, November 12, 2020, in Calaveras Big Trees State Park. This burn is part of the series of prescription burns planned for the park this year and will be dependent on weather conditions and resources.

California State Parks released today a list of park units being affected by red flag warnings and PG&E’s Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS).

This past Saturday at Calaveras Big Trees State Park, California State Parks and partners reopened the Three Senses Trail during a re-commissioning ceremony. Ryder Sitch and his mother Yvonne cut the ribbon to reopen the trail. Ryder, who is visually impaired, helped with the trail development and interpretive components.

Their massive size, singular beauty, and rarity have made them living icons of the natural world and subjects of global fascination. The new giant sequoia program will air live through the Parks Online Resources for Teachers and Students program (PORTS).  

California State Parks announced today that work to rehabilitate the Three Senses Trail, often called the “Braille Trail” at Calaveras Big Trees State Park is now underway. The project is a joint partnership between California State Parks, the Arnold Lions Club, and the Calaveras Big Trees Association (CBTA) that will revamp the trail.
