Programs Appropriated in 2018/19 Budget

Statewide Park Program - Round 3: $254,942,000 to be awarded
This program will award grants on a competitive basis for the creation of new parks and new recreation opportunities in proximity to the most critically underserved communities across California. The creation of new parks in neighborhoods will be given priority.
These projects will benefit the health of families, youth, senior citizens, and other population groups by meeting their recreational, cultural, social, educational, and environmental needs.

- Fall 2018 - Public Hearings
- Winter 2018 – Grant Application Workshops
- Spring 2019 – Applications Due
Per Capita Program: $185,000,000
Funds are available for local park rehabilitation, creation, and improvement grants to local governments on a per capita basis. Grant recipients are encouraged to utilize awards to rehabilitate existing infrastructure and to address deficiencies in neighborhoods lacking access to the outdoors.

- Spring/Summer 2019 – Announce allocations/release final guide
