Seasonal Interpreter

The Position

$12.90 per hour.  Positions works Mid-May through Labor Day

Hiring Locations

Butano Redwoods State Park, Portola Redwoods State Park, Henry Cowell Redwood State Park, and Sunset & Manresa State Beach

Seasonal Housing is available at some units including Butano State Park.

Position Description and Duties:

Seasonal Park Interpreters provide high quality educational experiences for the public by researching, developing, promoting, and conducting  natural and cultural history interpretive programs. These may include guided nature walks, campfire programs, Junior Ranger programs, and roving interpretation on park trails.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be enthusiastic, organized, responsible, work well with others, and enjoy working with children and adults. Applicant should be able to    communicate well verbally and in writing. Must be able to research,     develop and conduct original natural and cultural historical interpretive programs.  Must possess basic computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, be a self-starter and work as part of a team. A background in environmental sciences, natural history, cultural history, communications and/or park interpretation is preferred.
