Summer In-Learning Youth Program Leader 

Sponsored by our partner One Tam to work with Mount Tamalpais State Park for the upcoming summer youth programs. Desired start date is the end of April/beginning of May. The posting can be found here:

OVERVIEW: The Summer Learning Program Leader is responsible for the successful implementation and development of the Summer Learning program and other interpretive programs which introduce and engage local youth to Mt. Tamalpais State Park and surrounding open space lands. Working as part of a team, the Program Assistant works to expand day trip program experiences, camping opportunities and hands-on service learning experiences for youth and their families to park sites. The Program Assistant provides program oversight, trains State Park seasonal staff, coordinates outreach and provides lessons in environmental education and creates other activities which encourage a connection to, and appreciation of, parks, open space and natural resources.


Park Interpretive Specialist

The Park Interpretive Specialist, under direction, will:
-plan, organize, and conduct educational walks, hikes, or other interpretive programs concerning the natural and cultural history of the park; 
-promote conservation practices by explaining the relation of natural resources to the economy and physical and mental well-being of man; 
-explain rules and regulations to visitors for the purpose of protecting and preserving natural, historic and cultural features, sites or structures in the park.
- Must enjoy working with people, especially children and families, be enthusiastic, organized, reliable, and have a deep appreciation for nature and the outdoors.
This position is open until filled, year round, 1500 hours, $12.40/hour.

-Graduation from college, or near graduation, with major work in natural sciences, geography, history, or education. 
-An interest in park interpretation, education, and recreation. 
-Strong organizational and group management skills.
-Enjoy working outdoors in all kinds of weather and site conditions.
-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Friendly, welcoming and outgoing personality.
-Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
-Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and cloud-based software such as Google Drive
-Ability to work weekends
