ATTENTION RETURNING JUNIOR GUARDS!
Session 1 is now full for past participants.
Session 2 still has openings for past participants...you can sign up here.
A major change starting this year is that our registration will no longer be through Active: replacing Active is Reserve California which is CA State Park’s new website. On Reserve California, customers are able to reserve State Park camping sites, Jrguards, and all State Park activities like Ano Nuevo seal tours and Hearst castle tours. This is a state wide change and all state JG programs will use Reserve California for Registration and Uniforms.
You can get started by going to Reserve California and creating an account for your family. Once an account is created, log in then you are able to create dependents (your kids) under your household. This will make registering for JGs easier as their info is already in the system. State Parks will not sell any of your info and this is one reason we are no longer with Active as they could not guarantee the security of personal information. If you’ve gone camping with State Parks this year you may have an account already. Be patient with the website, if you’re having trouble creating an account go back at another time because they are still working out the bugs etc. You can also email us if you are having repetitive issues. We will continue to send out emails through Active until we make the full change over to reserve California.
If you are new to the Half Moon Bay Junior Lifeguard program, DO NOT register until you have attended one of our three tryouts. If your child successfully passes the tryout, you will then be given instructions on how to register.
For new participants, please show up to one of our tryouts on May 5, May 26, or July 7. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis, as there are a limited number of slots available. All new applicants will be allowed to register after successfully passing a swim test at one of our tryouts. New applicants MUST be 9 years old before the session begins. If anyone who did not participate in last summer's program registers before they are given a passcode at our tryout, they will be taken off the list and charged a service fee in order to be refunded.
If you would like to be a part of the Half Moon Bay Junior Lifegaurd program please attend one of our three HMBJG tryouts at the Half Moon Bay High School pool. Be sure to plan ahead to have four weeks free as to avoid missing any days at JGs. If you're a past participant you may sign up online as soon as registration opens.
From all the Half Moon Bay Junior Guard and State Parks Staff;
We hope to see you down at the beach!
