Attention!!!! We've noticed that non-returning JG families have signed up their children in direct violation of the given instructions. If you're a returning participant, you may sign up on March 1. If you're NOT a returning participant, you may sign up on April 1, but NOT before!!!  Families who have been spoken to about this issue, will receive an e-mail for further instruction. This decision is final and there will be no further negotiating.

If your child is a returning junior lifeguard, you may sign him/her up on March 1. Returning junior lifeguards do not have to tryout, but uniforms should be purchased on one of the tryout nights.

To enroll, first-time junior lifeguards must:

1. Sign up on or after April 1.  The program is first-come, first served and only the first 125 applications will be accepted, so please sign up early.

2. Complete the tryout at the Monterey Sports Center at 6:30 p.m. (May 19 for session one and June 23 for session two). Applicants must be able to swim 100 yds continuously, swim 10 yds under water and tread water for three minutes. Please make sure your child has these skills before signing them up. If your child does not pass the test, we will issue a full refund. However, refunds can take up to six months.


Please note that the program is first-come, first-served. We will not accept applications without payment or missing information (i.e. signatures etc.). Keep in mind that once we reach 125 applications, we will not accept any more applications. We appreciate your cooperation. Thank you!
