Camping at Indian Grinding Rock
At Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park we offer 22 campsites for overnight camping. The campground has room for RV's up to 27 feet long while all campsites include a fire ring and a picnic table. We have ADA accessible toilets and showers in the combination buidling located in the campground; showers are token operated and will only work with tokens. There is a token machine available to purchase tokens at the shower building.
We now accept reservations through ReserveCalifornia year round to camp at Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park can be made through ReserveCalifornia by calling 1-800-444-7275; or by going to ReserveCalifornia online.
The weather at the park is very similar to the Sacramento/San Joaquin valley weather. Firewood may not be available to purchase at the park so please call in advance to check on availability of firewood.
The campground usually fills up on holiday weekends. The fourth Friday in September is the start of the Miwok's fall celebration known as Big Time. Beginning Thursday night of that week, and continuing through Sunday night, the campground is closed for this special event.Camping Fees:
$30.00 per night for the first vehicle
$8.00 per night for the second vehicle
We gladly accept cash or checks.We also accept credit cards for payment in the museum 10-4 daily
Seniors, 62 years old or older, enjoy a $2.00 per night discount for camping fees.
All campsites are able to accomodate only two vehicles and we do not offer any overflow parking so please plan accordingly. If your second vehicle is towed into the park, such as a travel trailer, you are not required to pay an extra vehicle fee; however, the towed vehicle still counts towards your two vehicle limit. Only two tents per site. Additionally, the maximum amount of occupants per campsite is eight people.
