Volunteer

The Living History programs at Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park are some of the finest in the country. The volunteers and docents here are renowned historians and storytellers. You can see blacksmiths, 49'ers, a gambler, and even James Marshall himself.
If you live in Gold Country, you've probably attended or at least heard about Coloma Gold Rush Live!, or Christmas in Coloma, two of Marshall Gold's biggest special events. These events are when many volunteers and docents come together to revel in the days of yesteryear, to don period clothing from the 1800's and interpret the rich history of the California Gold Rush to the thousands of visitors that come here. Wouldn't it be wonderful to see more living history in the park on a daily basis?
The Volunteer Program at Marshall Gold SHP is always looking for volunteers and docents to work in many different areas. We especially need volunteers for our Eureka Experience school/group programs, Gold Discovery Museum and Visitor's Center, Office and Maintenance work. Or you pick any area in the park based on your interests. If you are interested and are able to commit 8 or more hours per month, please contact Ranger Eric Carter at ecarter@parks.ca.gov
