The Living History programs at Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park are some of the finest in the country. The volunteers and docents here are renowned historians and storytellers. You can see blacksmiths, 49'ers, a gambler, and even James Marshall himself.
If you live in Gold Country, you've probably attended or at least heard about Coloma Gold Rush Live, or Holiday Houses, two of Marshall Gold's biggest special events. These events are when many volunteers and docents come together to revel in the days of yesteryear, to don period clothing from the 1800's and interpret the rich history of the California Gold Rush to the thousands of visitors that come here. Wouldn't it be wonderful to see more living history in the park on a daily basis?
We are always looking for new volunteers eager to bring history alive in our park. We have so many different opportunities and areas that we can use volunteer help. If you are interested in attending our upcoming volunteer training, our next training will be October 23rd 6:30pm-8:30pm and October 24th 10:00am-4:00pm. Contact Holly Thane to sign up and for more information at (530 622-1048).
