River Trip Program
Station 4: “Trappers Tent” - the class will learn just what brought this group to the wilds of California.

Each October “The River Trip” program brings California history to life for one
week in the city of Red Bluff, and one week in the town of Colusa. During our
Living History program you and your class will be transported back in time to an
1840’s fur trapping camp along the Sacramento River. The class will get to
experience four interpretive stations that make up the complex operations of the
camp.
Station 1:“Traders Tent”- the class will appoint a “Chief” to negotiate the trapping
rights with the visiting trappers.
Station 2 and 3: “Hunters Tent” and “Camp Keepers Tent”- the class will learn the
many challenges faced in keeping a large group of men fed and healthy in the
wilderness.
