Mrs. Claus visits Asilomar, Saturday, December 23, 2017, from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the Phoebe Hearst Social Hall

California State Parks and the Asilomar Conference Grounds is pleased to welcome Mrs. Claus to the Phoebe Hearst Social Hall on Saturday, December 23rd for a special Holiday reading of Christmas and Holiday stories from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.. Settle into a cozy seat in front of the blazing fireplace as you listen to Mrs. Claus read Christmas favorites old and new. There will be tasty Christmas cookies to share and enjoy, with warming drinks to quench your thirst available for purchase at Phoebe’s Café. Bring the youngsters and oldsters and Christmas fanatics for this special FREE Holiday activity at Pacific Grove’s own State Park – Asilomar State Beach and Conference Grounds!

Asilomar State Beach & Conference Grounds Hosts First Day Hike

Start the New Year in a California State Park! OnMondayJanuary1,2018, Asilomar State Beach and Conference Grounds is participating in the National “First Day Hikes” Initiative by inviting local residents and visitors to join hikers from around the country to kick-start their new year in a healthy way. This signature event for America’s State Parks is an opportunity for participants to visit their local state parks to connect to nature for recreational opportunities, and to foster a healthy, outdoor lifestyle.

WHAT:            First Day Hike atAsilomar State Beach and Conference Grounds.Led by State Park Staff, Asilomar First Day Hikers will explore the panoramic 25-acre Natural Dunes Preserve Boardwalk Trail, and learn about the restoration and preservation of this unique habitat. Finish with a visit to the Native Plant Nursery. Walk follows gently sloping boardwalks for an approximate half-mile loop with amazing scenic views, bracing salt air, and dunes flora and fauna. FREE – no RSVP required.

WHEN:           January 1, 2018 - 1:30-2:30 PM. 

WHERE:         Meet State Park staff at the U.S. Flagpole, north of the Phoebe Apperson Hearst Social Hall, located in the Asilomar Conference Grounds, 800 Asilomar Blvd., Pacific Grove, CA. Bring water and binoculars if desired. Layered clothing and comfortable shoes recommended. Free parking in all conference grounds parking lots.

WHY:              California State Parks are joining the National First Day Hikes’ program for the sixth year, inviting visitors to enjoy guided hikes on New Year’s Day. All 50 states participate and more than 62,000 hikers took to the trails on January 1, 2017.

Asilomar State Beach and Conference Grounds Park Events - Tours

Asilomar State Park staff lead regularly scheduled tours for visitors and conference guests alike. The Asilomar Ramble, our most popular tour, is currently scheduled most Fridays and Saturdays throughout the year.

Planning a Special Event or Function at Asilomar

Special events and functions at Asilomar include but are not limited to: weddings, formal gatherings, catering, vending, and organized group activities. Wherever you want your event to take place - on the conference grounds or on the beach -  Aramark, the hospitality concessionaire at Asilomar under contract with California State Parks - provides the facility, reservations and services for these events.
