Cultural Landscapes Planning and Stewardship Program

California State Parks and the National Park Service (NPS) have signed an agreement to create a Cultural Landscapes Planning and Stewardship Program. In this program, the NPS is providing technical assistance to help develop cultural landscape management and treatment plans, and to update National Historic Landmark nominations at Big Basin, Jack London and Bodie State Historic Parks.  Funded by the Department’s Proposition 12 Cultural Stewardship program, this partnership includes training for State Parks staff in some specialized techniques associated with managing historic buildings, orchards and cemeteries.  It also facilitates developing institutional relationships between California State Parks and non-government organizations, academic partners, and other affiliate organizations of the NPS.
