Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park has redwoods, conifers, oaks, sycamores, cottonwoods, maples, alders and willows - plus open meadows.  Hikers can enjoy the many scenic trails, including a self-guided nature trail.  Some campsites are along the Big Sur River.  Big Sur Lodge is located in the park. The lodge has 61 guest rooms, a conference center, cafe, and a grocery store. Meeting rooms have space for groups of 10 to 125. Other rooms are available for smaller meetings and workshops, some with fireplaces and kitchens.

While the park was established in 1928, funds for park infrastructure, such as roads, visitor facilities, and campgrounds, were limited.  The CCC camp SP-12 known as Camp Big Sur was established in the fall of 1933.  The enrollees at Camp Big Sur fought wildfires and developed a vast array of visitor facilities including a dance floor, swimming pool and outdoor theater, all of which were later destroyed by flooding.  Masonry was utilized to create many of the features at Pfeiffer Big Sur including drinking fountains, buildings, bridge abutments, and picnic tables.

Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park has these CCC features:
Weyland Bridge, Outdoor Theater, Nature Center, Recreation Hall, Several Residences, Masonry Comfort Station, Picnic Tables and Day Use Campsites
