California State Parks owns the copyright for many of the images displayed on its web pages. In some instances, private individuals have granted California State Parks permission to display their copyrighted images on specific pages. Image files owned by California State Parks are made available on this website for personal, non-commercial use only. Copying, modification, or redistribution of the images in any manner for personal gain or commercial purposes is not permitted. To find out the copyright ownership of a specific image or if you would like to obtain permission to use any of the images on this website, please contact California State Parks.  Be sure to include a link to the web page on which the image(s) appears and to list the file name(s) of the image(s) in question.

Fair Use (Permission fees are not required)
Educational use of California State Parks images from the website or from our McClellan facility is encouraged. Copies may be made for use in the classroom only; images may not be otherwise distributed.

Non-Profit Organization and Commercial Use (Permission fees are required)
Permission for use of images by non-profit organziations and/or commercial use is granted on a case-by-case basis. The amount of the cost recovery fee charged depends on both the format requested and the nature of the project or proposed use. Please send a written request stating your name, address, phone and fax number, and the catalog number/file name of the image. Also indicate the intended use of the image, type of project, name of author, title of publication, publisher, and expected date of publication.
