Demonstration Field Trip Program
If you were unable to obtain a school reservation for the Hands-On Programs, this is an excellent alternative.
Due to the high demand for visits to the Custom House and Pacific House by elementary schools, Monterey State Historic Park is pleased to offer a Custom House/Pacific House demonstration field trip for elementary classes.
This program is offered during the school week on Mondays or Fridays during the school year. The program covers California Native Indians pre-European contact, Spanish and Mexican periods, although topics may be customized to the group. Students will see acorn grinding, Native American hunting techniques and practice thier hunting skills before walking to the Custom House for a talk about the Hide and Tallow trade and a scavenger hunt.
Reservations can be made by contacting Callista Turner at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling (831) 649-7109. Cost: $75 per class.
Please note: This program is not recommended for students younger than Grade 3. Museum guidelines become difficult for younger students to follow and interpretive content may not be appropriate for younger learners.
