Fort Ord Dunes State Park General Plan

The Final General Plan and Environmental Impact Report for Fort Ord Dunes State Park was approved by the State Parks and Recreation Commission on September 17, 2004 in Pacific Grove, CA.

This general plan will guide future management direction at the park. It contains a comprehensive and integrated set of park-wide goals and guidelines for the long-term management of the Park that focus on protection of environmental resources, enhancements to visitor use and opportunities, and improvements to administration and operations of the park. In addition, the general plan includes proposed park development and designates appropriate land uses.

The Final General Plan for Fort Ord Dunes State Park is published in two volumes.


Volume 1: General Plan and Environmental Impact Report presents the park’s existing conditions, planning influences and issues, plan proposals, the visitor carrying capacity evaluation, the environmental analysis, and appendices. (27MB pdf)


Volume 2: Responses to Comments contains the comments received during the public review of the General Plan, California State Parks responses to these comments, recommended changes to the General Plan, and CEQA compliance documentation related to this plan.
