Malakoff Diggins Park Association

The Malakoff Diggins Park Association (MDPA) works with the staff and volunteers at Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park to enrich visitors' experiences and increase understanding of the park’s rich history.

Through public donations, membership dues, sales of interpretive materials, and special events, (such as the annual June "Homecoming" celebration), MDPA raises funds to help finance the conservation and interpretation of the dynamic natural and man-made features on the Park's 3,000 acres, including the old mining town of North Bloomfield. The association provides vital support for programs that offer a taste of the natural and cultural history of gold mining in the Sierra Foothills.

For more information about the association and the its many activities, or to become a supporter, please visit their website at or contact the association.

Program Overview

Through the Cooperating Associations Program, California State Parks has valuable relationships with more than 80 cooperating associations authorized pursuant to Public Resources Code 513, and other sections.  The association on this page is one of these official organizations.  Like other associations it is dedicated to enhancing the educational and interpretive programs in California State Parks.

Cooperating associations are related to, but independent of the state parks they serve.  They are recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as charitable nonprofit organizations (IRS 501 (c) 3).

Many cooperating associations have websites.  California State Parks encourages you to visit these websites, however does not guarantee their content or accuracy.
