Empire Mine Park Association

The Empire Mine Park Association (EMPA) furthers the interpretive and educational goals of Empire Mine State Historic Park (EMSHP).  Through public donations, visitor center sales, membership dues, and special events such as the annual Miners' Picnic, the association provides significant financial support to the park.

EMPA and California State Parks are currently expanding the sales area.  The park has very active volunteer groups (tour guides, administration, facilities/grounds & gardens, research, trail maintenance and gift shop support).  EMPA provides critical funds supporting these volunteer activities. Anyone wishing to assist supporting the park and EMSHP may do so by joining EMPA.

The Empire Mine Park Association has proven itself to be a valuable ally to the parks, visitors and staff at Empire Mine State Historic Park. For more information about the association and its many activities, or to become a supporter, visit their website at www.empiremine.org.

Program Overview

Through the Cooperating Associations Program, California State Parks has valuable relationships with more than 80 cooperating associations authorized pursuant to Public Resources Code 513.  The association on this page is one of these official organizations.  Like other associations it is dedicated to enhancing the educational and interpretive programs in California State Parks.

Cooperating associations are related to, but independent of the state parks they serve.  They are recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as charitable nonprofit organizations (IRS 501 (c) 3) .

Many cooperating associations have websites.  California State Parks encourages you to visit these websites, however does not guarantee their content or accuracy.
