Boosters of Old Town San Diego SHP

The Boosters of Old Town (BOOT) is dedicated to supporting the interpretive programs at Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. BOOT sponsors interpretive activities that richly reflect life in San Diego from 1821 to 1872. The store, historic tours, and donations provide most of BOOT’s income.

Working closely with State Parks staff, BOOT funds annual public events at such as fandangos, History Days, a 4th of July celebration, and Fiestas Patrias. In addition, BOOT sponsors exciting living history programs at the park such as the blacksmith's shop, the woodworker's shop, the Descendants of Old Town genealogy workshops, and the historic newspaper. BOOT also provides scholarships for volunteers and paid staff to attend interpretive training. Recently BOOT converted an outdated slide show "Maria's Story" to DVD technology so it is now shared again with park visitors.
