On March 5, 2002, voters passed Proposition 40 by 56.8 percent, the 2.6 billion dollar "California Clean Water, Clean Air, Safe Neighborhood Parks, and Coastal Protection Act of 2002" (2002 Resources Bond). The passage of Proposition 40 provided funds for local assistance grants, as provided for in Sections 5096.600 through 5096.683 of the Public Resources Code. Link to Text of Proposition 40
