California has been impacted by the recent storms, which have been one of the most challenging and impactful in the past few decades. The state has taken early, proactive steps to keep Californians safe.

Within the State Park System, State Parks has temporarily closed park units until further notice. This list is fluid and will be updated as information becomes available. Please check with the park unit you plan to visit before heading out as conditions can change without notice. Thank you for your understanding.

  • Big Basin Redwoods SP - (Media Downloads)
    • The park remains partially closed. Portions of the Rancho Del Oso coastal unit are now open daily.
    • Learn how State Parks and partners are working to have Big Basin Redwoods State Park re-emerge as one of California’s greatest natural cathedrals, as well as a model for California’s resilient and inclusive parks at ReimaginingBigBasin.org.

  • Auburn State Recreation Area: Due to the recent Mosquito Fire, the Western States Trail between Patent Road fuel break and Dardanelles Creek remains closed. Thank you for your understanding.

River Fire

San Joaquin County

  • Caswell Memorial State Park: Campground and day use beach and picnic areas are opened. However, hiking trails within the park remain closed.
