Permit to Conduct Archaeological Investigations on State Parks Lands

Application and Permit to Conduct Archaeological Investigations/Collections
on State Parks Land (Form DPR-412A)

The California Department of Parks and Recreation oversees the nature and extent of archaeological fieldwork carried out on State Parks Land. The purpose of the DPR-412A form is to chronicle archaeological investigative work and its research context. The department wants to encourage viable research projects, however, potential investigators must complete the approval process and possess an authorized DPR-412A before any work begins.

Instructions: Application must be typewritten with original signatures on original and four photocopies of the application. The four photocopies of the application can be sent either to the Superintendent of the district that work is to be preformed in or to the address below.  The purpose of the work must be clearly outlined, a USGS topographic map and other map showing precise location of proposed work needs to be attached, as well as the resume of the principal investigator. Please allow up to one month for processing.
